I deactivated the old blog a couple of weeks ago at this stage so there has been little chance to keep people informed of the latest company news.

Client News

Development work at St. Michael’s Hospital continues on schedule with both the A&E and Theatre systems in the testing phase, and the other internal systems under development. Developed using .Net 3.5 on Microsoft SQLServer this software is cutting edge and was developed using an agile development model. We have also been selected by St. Michael’s for a further very high profile piece of web development work. More news on that later.

Work on the Gas and Load Prediction (GLP) software for General Electric at the Tynagh Power Plant in Galway continues with Kro staff on-site for 3 days a week during March. The go live date is scheduled for early April. This complex piece of software combines a .Net 3.5 Windows Services architecture sitting on a MySQL database and will be the main software GE and Tynagh Energy Limited will rely on for the trading of gas and electricity in Ireland.

As announced in the last blog post of our last blog we are actively moving away from the micro business and low budget start-up market and we have been persuing clients who are looking to invest in high quality websites and software at a great price. We are seeking out ambitious and confident business owners who value the worth of great software and who understand that return on investment is key to sucess. Building a low cost website is an extremely expensive folly if you never make a sale from it, but a well designed and developed website that brings in €10,000 in sales in just 3 m0nths is what I call a great investment. On the website side of the business we have chosen over the last month to work with Ed Lundy Haulage in Ballina, O’Neills Irish Bars in Portugal, and Habadashery & Trimmings Limited in Kildare. All three websites will launch during April and more news will be on our blog in due course.

Staff News

Kro IT Solutions have made three new appointments recently. Kelly Glynn has joined us part-time as a Business Development Manager (yes she is responsible for the recent changes around here!). Kelly has many years experience with very large companies in both Dublin and Galway. You can read about Kelly and view her business experince on Linked-In and feel free to contact her on 091 399 939 or kelly at kro.ie. Even better news is the fact that Kelly will be joining us on a full time basis from May 1st.

Helena Lydon will be joing Kro in the coming days. Helena comes to Kro with a speciality that is of great interest to us. She has an M.Sc. from NUIG in which she specialised in the crossover areas between computer graphics and computer programming. Kro IT Solutions has always been a provider of websites that are not only applications but also heavy on design and usability. Finding someone who has dedicated their education and experience to that area is very exciting for us and we are looking forward to Helena working with us.

The expected staff count in Kro by early this summer is going to be 5 people. We will be working on a major sales drive between now and then in an effort to make sure we are all busy. We are still looking for senior .Net developers to act as contract resources when required. If you are interested please send in a CV. We are also interested in talking to people with software or website sales experience who are willing to make a career for themselves. We do not have a budget for a sales person but if you are good enough to make your own living we will certainly work out a great commission rate with a realistic view to a permanent role.

New Business Website

Kro IT Solutions has always been a community focused company and we have launched some exciting new projects in the last few months. We have a new website at http://www.irishbusinesstalk.com/forum/ which is taking off slowly. We need your help – join up today and make a post or answer a question. It is a free resource and will be very valuable to all small business owners.

Networking in Galway

We have also launched a new networking group for Galway city at http://gcbn.eu/ and the first meeting is on in the Clayton Hotel at 7pm on the 25th March 2010. Attendance is free but the room was actually fairly expensive so we are looking for sponsors or donations for future events.

Low Cost Website & Social Media Training

Neither of the above have any direct commercial interest for us and are purely altruistic persuits. However our training sessions that we are running with Spiderworking are being run for altruistic reasons but of course there is a cost and hopefully a profit involved. We are running 5 courses in two locations (Naas, Co. Kildare and Jury’s Inn, Customs House Quay, Dublin 1) during May. The courses cover everything from how to look after and run your own website through to social media campaigns and e-commerce. The cost is jaw droppingly low at just €95 for an early bird ticket. Sales open tomorrow and for the early bird close on the 31st March or when we have sold the small allocation. Full price tickets will then go on sale for €145. You will not get better value or more comprehensive training this year so book it today over at http://www.worktheweb.eu/

For more information on any of the above call Ruairi on 091 399 939.
